A newborn baby has only three demands. They are warmth in the arms of its mother, food from her breasts, and security in the knowledge of her presence. Breastfeeding satisfies all three. ~Grantly Dick-Read
I am an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), which is the gold standard of lactation training. I have over 13 years and thousands of hours of experience providing comprehensive breastfeeding education and assistance to mothers and babies to help them achieve their breastfeeding goals. I also have extensive experience and special interest in identifying the different types of tongue tie, lip tie and unorganized sucking as well as providing aftercare and suck training for babies post-treatment for tongue tie.
You may find that having a consultation with me may be different than breastfeeding support you've received before. During our visits, we spend a lot of time together going over questions, concerns and your history to get a comprehensive picture of what is going on. Most first-time visits average around 2 hours. I typically follow more holistic and natural practices and may recommend collaborative care with a naturopath, suggestion for craniosacral treatment or other various natural remedies. We work together to make a plan that best fits your family's comfort level.
A few examples of breastfeeding services that I can provide:
*Prenatal breastfeeding education classes
*Prenatal planning on increasing breastfeeding success in special circumstances
*Assistance with nipple soreness/pain
*Assistance with newborn weight loss/slow weight gain
*Evaluation and function assessment for different types of tongue tie, lip tie, abnormal tongue movements and unorganized sucking as well as post-treatment follow-up evaluations and suck/mobility training to improve breastfeeding
*Concerns about breastmilk supply
*Getting baby back to breastfeeding
*Assistance with weaning from nipple shields
*When baby refuses to breastfeed
*Induced lactation or relactation
